The Future of Digital Twins

A digital twin is a living digital representation of an individual physical system that is dynamically updated with data to mimic the true structure, state, and behaviour of the physical system in order to drive business outcomes. The most exciting thing is when they will make a digital twin of the entire planet. I imagine it as a mix between a game like GTA and Google Earth/street view. Perhaps self-driving cars combined with drone swarms and crowdsourced smartphone 3d scans will be able to scan the entire planet. AI will be able to stitch all the data together and even realistically generate where the data is missing.

My prediction for this is the mid 2030s.
