Clinical Case Review: Antibiotic Stewardship

Target Audience
This activity is targeted towards primary care providers (internists, IM/P, and family practitioners).

Statement of Need
Many clinicians do not routinely follow clinical practice guidelines or are unaware of new treatment modalities which will result in improved health outcomes. Providing education opportunities in targeted areas as well as adult specialty areas should improve a physician’s knowledge base and patient outcomes.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this offering, the participant will be able to:
• Describe the threat of antimicrobial resistance and the need for antimicrobial stewardship.
• Identify common clinical scenarios to apply antimicrobial stewardship principles.
• Describe effective office-base strategies to promote appropriate use of antimicrobials.
