For anyone that's played a sport at a certain level and then aged out of it, this scene is serious tears material.

Roy’s nod to Ted, Ted’s nod back. No words, but mutual respect.

God bless Sam, he knew this was Roy’s last moment on the field let him take it all in.

"We're all told at some point in time that we can no longer play the children's game, we just don't know when that's gonna be. Some of us are told at eighteen, some of us are told at forty, but we're all told."

He didnt want Keeley to see the soft side of him. He wanted to put on the persona that he was hard and tough. Roy's character development has been amazing.

Anyone who's played sports to any degree knows how emotional this scene was. Beautifully written

ugh man….the lines ‘a song that’s echoed through the premier league for more than a decade’ and ‘I’m sorry to say that this may be the last time we see the great Roy Kent lace up his boots’ - it gets me teary eyed every damn time

He acts like an injured wild animal, he’s injured and stuck in a beartrap and is yelling and screaming but is defenseless but Keely still wants to help him and he leans on her as acknowledgment

Keely’s relationship with Roy might be my favorite thing in the show when there’s so much to like about it her comforting him in this moment where his legendary career comes to a close is beautiful

Scenes like this are so good because almost everyone relates to it. At some point, everyone who takes pride in their job will have this moment. Athletes, construction workers, soldiers, farmers, whatever... Everyone will reach that moment when your body betrays you and you realize that you can't go on, at least not at your best. It's terrifying and it's sad, but it's part of being human.

"Roy Kent will never leave on a stretcher." All that needs to be said.

Nate says in a previous episode that it’s Roy’s anger that fires him up and makes him play “like a man possessed”. I think the fact that it was Jaime, the one who makes him the most angry, was a very important factor in this scene.

I always found it so fitting that Roy was #6 while Jaime’s number was flipped with #9.

I've played soccer since I was 4 and still play at 37. This scene made me cry. I love the game and will be sad when I have to hang up my cleats up .

This scene carries all the gravity of a Hero's Death. Roy left it all out on the field, and then we have to watch him hobble away to the locker room in unimaginable pain. His whole life is at an end. What's he got besides football? A bad knee and an anger he doesn't know what to do with. What is he without football?

Keely is there to remind him of that lesson of Ted's; "There is something worse than being sad, and that's being alone & being sad. Ain't no one here alone."

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go cry.

Anyone who’s played sports at any level, even down to high school levels, knows how gut wrenching it is to take your uniform off for the last time.

I played high school ball and I remember to this day how devastated I was after my last game. I sat down in the locker room and sobbed for a good long while. It’s always hard to say goodbye to the game you love.

I have to wonder if the fact that Roy's locker is the only one without street clothes was done deliberately. The set shouts that Roy, at least to himself, doesn't have a life outside of football.
