Whipped out an old project to look at with the new DSO. A white and pink noise generator based on a chip, MM5637N, that I had bought from Radio Shack. Unfortunately, curiosity killed the cat, I killed it when I took it apart and put it back together, before I got a chance to play with the DSOs FFT.

Neat IC. I never tinkered with that one. It is done with a shift register which can be emulated in software on a microcontroller if you wanted to create a noise source (if your chip is dead).

This chip is obsolete I believe, not available from the big electronics vendors. But it is available on eBay, see:
