Most of what they teach about the Bill of Rights completely skips over much of the real history. From the reason the Federalists opposed it, to Madison’s flip-flop, and the totally ignored preamble - on this episode, I’ve got 5 key - and mostly hidden - truths about that just might change the way you view the Bill of Rights.

9:44 - The Declaration states "to secure these rights, Governments are instituted". The states, too, were to secure unalienable rights. That is why the Constitution begins with "in Order to form a more perfect Union". States were violating unalienable rights, i.e. slavery. Outlawing violations would make us more perfect. The states were to secure the remaining unalienable rights, leaving all other power to the people.

My highest hope is that our Supreme Court Justices (and their staff) as well as ALL our Congress members hear (and understand) The Tenth Amendment Center’s broadcasts in order that they consider (with great confidence) our Founding Fathers’ intentions for the Role of Government in securing LIBERTY for ALL Citizens

One of the Founding Fathers said, “Generalization leads to deception”, so we must be SPECIFIC!!. He is RIGHT, by virtue of a thorough understanding of ALL HUMAN NATURE.

My history and civics classes in Jr High did cover this tipic, but as a preteen I didnt really appreciate it.

40+ years later I have a much better understanding of human nature. The Federalists were optimistic, but power seeks power. Even with clearly enumerated rights some people of our government strive to obscure and errode them.

"Trial by jury to protect against corrutp judges"

I would love a video about jury nullification and how the founders viewed the concept.

BEING “TRUTHFUL” DISSOLVES ALL CONFUSION. Support PEACE among men, THIS WAY.

Hamilton and the other Federalists never foresaw that Congress would try to pass laws resticting those rights. Without the Bill of Rights laws could have been passed that only the government is allowed to print, or the government declares a national church, or a law would certainly have been made restricting firearms to the military alone.

Even as reserved as “ RIGHTS “ ARE, the several governments keep working to STRIP AND INFRINGE RIGHTS . With out declaring rights the government can and WILL continue to expand untill no rights can be enforced against the governments.
Just look at what AND how government agencies have continued to make “rules” with the FORCE OF LAW, BYPASSING THE LEGISLATURES.

I wonder how the federalist would think of their opinions now seeing how it has turned out. And one hand, our bill of rights are protecting us from the tyranny of a government that’s teetering towards communism. On the other hand, the federalist would argue that it’s because of we protected those rights and declared them specifically that the government Could move forward on defining what those rights of protections really mean
