The Next Generation of Prefab Homes

The new construction industry is finally seeing big changes that will and the timing couldn't be better. It was announced this week that Plant Prefab will be breaking ground on a new 270,000 square foot facility located in California in early 2022 that will be capable of building approximately 800 prefabricated dwellings per year. The new facility will introduce automation that is estimated to increase their output velocity by 15 times compared to their other prefab factories. This is perfect timing because the wait time for a manufactured, modular or prefab home is currently longer than I've ever seen it since I started in the factory built home business in 2009. In this video I discuss what plant prefab has planned for their new facility and showcase a few of their unbelievable homes.

Thank you, Kerry. This is the kind of content that keeps bringing me back to your channel. Once again, the prices of of some Plant Prefab homes, exceptionally unique and cleverly designed, don't fall into the 'affordable' category. But as you noted, their other designs are diverse and it's inspiring to the whole industry when homes like these enjoy commercial popularity. And so better for all of us. Hope winter is being kind to you after that obnoxious late fall weather.

Interesting. Nice homes but hardly affordable when all costs are totaled. It will be interesting to see if these homes can be constructed to meet special codes in a specific area, i.e. Florida has a requirement that homes must be able to withstand certain wind speeds. Thank you for sharing this with us. Interesting, informative, and entertaining, as always. Once again, thank you!

The problem with being transparent is that it forces you to publish ridiculous itemized estimates like this... 5:08

The pricing is so obscene I laughed out loud!
500 ft^2/$355K 🤣
Say that out loud a few times….

I love the custom home, I love the look and the finishes. I like modern homes, but a million dollars for 2, 200 square ft is not something my common sense or wallet would allow me to purchase.

Expensive home especially but possibilities arise!

good stuff, you've managed to open my eyes to the possibility. Considering moving to a 55+ community in AZ. Seriously considering a career in sales with a MH/PFab company. Will consider investing in PLANT. Thanks! M.

This company, or one just like it, could build these homes for less than half the cost anywhere else outside of the left coast. Great designs hobbled by California rules and regulations. Still, very much worth watching to see if they decide to expand production beyond California like say Texas, Tennessee, Florida, or Ohio..

I feel like most people interested in small prefabs are looking for cheaper, more realistic options. These are far from it. For the price it makes more sense to buy a regular home that already comes with land and is move in ready and most likely much larger. Would you be able to make a series on prefabs that are actually affordable and make sense to go through the process of buying land, prepping the land, putting in power/water/electric? Also would be good to understand the steps involved as well as the chronology. These companies don’t provide much guidance on that and it’s impossible to talk to someone on the phone. Not everyone knows someone with a big plot of land that would allow you to put an ADU on their land and then retain the rights to it. Thanks. 🙏

I am impressed with this kind of homes. I am just wondering are you talking about homes in USA or Canada ? Canada is very strict about this kind of homes, not suppose to, Thanks.

The bullshit I hate from this industry is, they say its $180K, then you reveal a shot of it actually costing $355K. Like - No thanks, I'll buy a house!?

It would be helpful if you put the Links at all these manufacturers on your site so we can check them out and perhaps maybe interest fast and find one

Just curious, I hope your getting a cut for marketing this company. Way out of my budget, but I’m an old information junkie so I loved the content😍

This is laughable at the price of $355K for almost 500 sq. ft. of living area, so that's about $715 per square foot!
While this is clearly meant for the Crazy California market this is still a bit ridiculous at these prices, IMHO.

Kerry what type of land would you put that on a standard Quarter of an acre and then would they lease the

As usual, the rich get what they want and the regular guy gets nothing. $180, 000 for 500 sq.ft? You got to be kidding.

What’s the cost of shipping a home across the continent?

Hey Kerry I've been looking for a way to build a hobbit home, I've looked at green magic homes and didn't like the style plus I've read that if those things catch fire can put off some serious toxic fumes. Have you heard of any manufacturers that specifically design and build hobbit homes?

Word to the wise: New facility means lots of new expenses which are ultimately paid by the consumer.
