Toy Story Laserdisc VS DVD Comparision: Gas Station Brawl

I have recorded footage from my Laserdisc copy of Toy Story, and thought it would be interesting to have it compared it to a standard definition DVD (because compaing laserdisc to blu-ray wouldn't be fair). In the process of recording the Laserdisc version, I've also made an attempt to clean up the video quality, which was adjusting the colors, contrast, and sharpness to provide the best possible quality.

Audio used in all comparisions is from the Laserdisc version.

The fight between Woody and Buzz quickly got intense, but I couldn’t help laughing as Woody’s head spun around and Buzz’s squeaky head was bashed in. However, their fight quickly ended as soon as both of them became lost toys in the end.

The resolution sucks, but wayyy better contrasts than on the dvd.

Isnt the dvd taken directly from the digital file? So it's truer to the original source while the laserdisc is sourced from a film print, which may not be as accurate?

The laserdisc is how I remember the film on VHS. Never owned the DVD but I always knew there was something off when I eventually saw the film in HD. Everything looks more washed out and lifeless.

The laserdisc looks terrible in this comparison. Looks like a VHS. You need glasses if you think the laserdisc looks better in this example. Ive seen other examples where the LD was very close to a DVD. Still disappointing for how large and expensive those things are. Now put that DVD in a Bluray player with upscaling. Youll be blown away. Even on my 65" 4k, dvd looks like 720p-1080i.
