With Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty currently closed due to COVID-19, this is the perfect time to experience a virtual tour of the monument, featuring every nook-and-cranny of the statue's interior, including areas traditionally off-limits to visitors. Correspondent Conor Knighton reports on the National Park Service’s new online tour of Lady Liberty.

I climbed the stairs back in 1977 (I was 10 years old) with my mom and my two older brothers. The view from the crown was definitely worth the climb.

Been there and climbed to the top with my grandma. Took everything her when I was a teenager. I was so proud to escort her. God rest her soul. ♥️🇺🇸

I'm so glad I had the chance - 2 or 3 times - to visit the Statue of Liberty in entirety. Awesome to climb up all those winding stairs to the head and see the views of the harbor. Thanks to the nation of France for this incredible, enduring gift. And merci, merci, merci for the sister statue gift you (France) have added this year.

Thank you so much for this tour. Some of us would never be able to claim the stairs to see what's been captured on video! It's just beautiful.🤗

When I was 10, I floated by it on a tour boat. Being inside and at the top is still on my bucket list.... this way is better than never being able to see it on the ground it stands, Liberty Island.

I've never been inside the Statue of Liberty before, but I'm so glad to see what technology they're using today, in order to make it seem like you're inside the Statue, when no one is around and when you're not allowed in certain areas of it.

I climbed the stairs many times. When I had my children I took them. I'm so glad we had the opportunity to climb into the crown...The view was incredible

To build a monument that became the cherished icon for a country would be extraordinary. To build two seperate icons for two separate countries is unbelievable. That both were major countries is unimaginable. What can I say when they both are well over a century old?

I climbed the stairs when I was in highschool… as we were leaving… I saw a man have a heart attack… as the ferry was leaving.. I watched and prayed!!! I worked as a nurse at the Hebrew Home in Rockville MD… multiple 80+ yr olds… on various ships said as young children… saw this Lady of Liberty and felt HOPE… quite frankly… their families worked hard to exist… not freeloaders!

Watched this segment this morning, Sun. May 24, 2020. Had to see it again & save it for further viewing. Fabulous video & amazing technology. Wish I had taken the tour when I lived in NYC--just never did it. Well worth watching this video.

Statue of Liberty located in New Jersey ***

If you’re from the area in New Jersey, you definitely agree.

I did this on my 16th birthday so that I would always remember my 16th. I don't like heights or closed in spaces. I was doing OK while I forged ahead on the stairs. Then I became aware of the narrower spiral staircase part. You at that point have the person in front of you's derriere in rather close proximity. I was losing it but kept breathing. Finally the crown was only feet away. I got up there, looked out, did a Clark Griswold nod to the Grand Canyon [years before he did] and entered the down stair case with a sigh of relief.
