God damn I can't stop think8ng of a boss fight. Just imagine a giant dude swinging this sword around with ease in a narrow space

That is pretty cool. I've always wondered how those fights went down.

Why hasn't the Star Wars base latched onto these Great sword movements and ideas for lightsaber? It seems like it has the flowyness and showing us that they are after, while still being well documented as something that actually happened. Instead they try to make double bladed sabre, and whip blades work.

Oh, so that's why people yell "Gangway!" when running and wanting people out of the way. It's a simple way of asking for the gangway to be cleared.

So if they were to be boarded would the rowers be happy with the greatswords man defending while they continue with the rowing action? 🤣 Always wondered what they would react like

Reminds me of the Swords and Wizardry. Greatsword wielders need to have some free space around them in order to be effective

Be sure and yell "Pull up your socks!" Before you swing.

I keep saying it, the greatsword is the ultimate 'attack sword' or a 'space clearing sword'

A longsword or rapier is niether big or potent enough to keep a solid range of area denial

But halbers and such longer polearms are too big and forward weighted for these sort of environments

Why even bother with a montante then? A spear or halberd seems more practical

Was it common practice to massacre or capture galley slaves, they probably wouldn't have anything to put up a fight with, possibly chained or tied down

Also would love to see how greatswords can literally shove pikes out the way, it seems directly destroying them is a bit harder put keeping them out of reach of your allies while they advance past the points seems somewhat plausible

Seem to sucky situation for both. The towers have to trust the swordsman only swing horizontal or stabl straight ahead amiss combat stress and wild tides and the galley swordsman is limited it is movements in the ways he can protect himself without hurting his own men. This sounds like a horrible defense for a galley
