I spent some time with Lysa Penrose today, interviewing her all about the DM's Guild. I've never published anything there before, and I was unsure of what I needed or how to go about getting started. Lysa answers all of my noob/starter questions and now I'm about to embark on that publishing journey myself! Do you have any questions for Lysa/the DM's Guild?

Thanks for the info Ted and Lysa! I've been toying around with the idea of writing as a side gig for a while now, but never considered dm's guild. Everything I've seen on the site looks so professional, I always thought it was beyond my ability. Knowing that there are entry-level resources available is an amazing confidence booster.

Sincerely, thank you.

I spent this summer working on some subclasses for friends to use, this is the perfect video to finally get some ideas out. Thanks so much

Every time I hear someone connected to Dungeons & Dragons say "Drizzit", a little piece of my soul dies.

This is so great. I'm in the middle of working on my own compendium of subclasses, feats and magic items and I got worried for a while cause I knew some of the stuff I included was using stuff outside of the OGL, so hearing that DMs Guild basically allows you to use any 5e materials has me really excited to finish this project and publish it.

A thing to remember with making updates to DM's Guild stuff is that you have the option of how to do it. You can replace a file with an update version if the changes are strict improvements like wording fixes and things missed in editing. If the edits are more like substantial mechanical changes, you have the option to ADD the new file so that people can choose whether to switch over.

I've been wondering about how to put some of my ideas and content from my homebrew campaign out there into the multiverse, so this was a very helpful video.

I put my first random thing up on the guild today. This is timely. Hehe.

so as a person who loves making world building setting books of homebrew worlds, would i use DriveThruRPG for that instead?

I use LaTeX for documents. Do you have a LaTeX template? What about Homebrewery Markdown template?

I've been struggling to get my first pieces up to a standard I'm happy with releasing. I'm a writer, not a print designer, y'know? I just want them to look professional quality after the time I've put into the game design and writing. But I think you make a good point that effectually you just have to click publish and let it breathe. Sounds like a great project for the weekend. Let's do it, Ted! Let's make ourselves published! 😁
