Why FL Studio Slide Doesn't Work

Hello this is the tutorial about sliding notes. you can do it with pitch automation but this video shows that you can slide notes or basically glide notes on to the next note.

Some of the comments already mentioned using BENDY, which is a nice solution to slide notes with third party vsts. However, there's a catch...


Due to BENDY being unstable (presumably from it being FL Studio's native plugin format trying to coincide with and process note parameters from third party vsts), it has a high risk of crashing and possibly even corrupting your FL Studio project file. So unless you want to sit through the hassle of dealing with constant crashes, I wouldn't recommend using BENDY.

apparently there's a FL Studio native format version of GENNY that also has the ability to do slide notes, but suffers the same fate of crashes (luckily, there's a third party vst format that's much more stable)

In some plugins you'll have to enable "mono" mode rather than turning down the voices.

Unfortunately, it still isn't as flexible as FL's slide capability as you would also need to automate the Glide Time (or the pitch) if you wanted some to be quicker or shorter. Would be awesome if they had figured out a way to make this work with third-party plugins.

I think some people are getting confused because of my short video lol, i mean this points out only solution not deep diving video or something.

Pitch Automation are great but you can pitch (12, 24) semitones Up or down or maybe want to slide on a certain note (lil complicated)

But I was talking about the piano roll slide section 🙏 There are some people who want to use in that way soo.... I hope you get my point of view lol

when slider doesn't work, it's usually because either 1. you timed it wrong, or 2. the vst/plugin doesn't support it..

pitch automation clips are the only real way that I can imagine controllable slides on vst3 in FL.
Pretty sure it's faster to, select 1bar - adjust channel pitch or use some pitch plugin to create automation clip. It sound tedious but it takes like half a minute and then you just copy paste / make unique.

its def possible on 3rd party VSTs. It's just SOME won't work with slide/porta

Vital does indeed support it. You just need to go to the advanced tab and activate mpe. Though you might need to manually re-active it every time you open up the project, i think it‘s a bug

With 3rd party if it doesn't have a glide option, i use Edison to record a one shot of the note then just use it by itself in piano roll. Not perfect but works

Stupid thing is some don't stock vsts don't work with the volume settings on slide notes

I just downloaded a fresh version of FL studio and when I try to import MIDI's into a piano roll, slides suddenly stop working. I didn't install anything except a few soundfonts I wanna use and the program itself. Does MIDI import have anything to do with slides not working? Can I fix it somehow?

Guys.... If ya want any vst sound to slide note... Just export as sample unmix and make note of what key and bpm it is and put it on piano rack..

you have to write one single long note and only use the slider it works

FL is the SFM of the DAW world;
it isn't user friendly, it doesn't do what you want it to do, and you can get better software for cheaper/the same price
