Takamine acoustic guitar.
Mic's positioned approx. 8" from where the neck joins the body.
Focusrite Scarlett 18i8 audio interface.
Protools 12.

No compression, EQ or any other alteration has been made to the audio recordings.

High quality headphones or studio monitors recommended.

NT1 sounds better for me, although I may be biased as I own one, but thanks for comparison, was looking for something like this!

I think of my 57 as a workhorse. I throw it at something and will get something workable in a mix. If I wanted more character and the source was right, I'd reach for the NT1.

I would use the NT1 for just guitar, but if it was going in a mix with a bass instrument I would go with the 57

Wow i dunno how you get your sm57 sounding that good.. Mine does not sound anything close to that on a acoustic guitar.

NT1 much more clear in my opinion. SM57 is warm but not in a bad way though.

how do you get that much noise with the sm57? when i record with that i can hardly hear something even when i put the gain level all the way up at the interface
