I used to smoke weed morning noon and night for 10 years. First few years I felt great, I became obsessed with it, my life revolved around it and it’s all I would ever talk about. I lost a job because my behaviour was really erratic. Then it began to get really bad. I lost all motivation, and eventually got to the point where I couldn’t leave the house without smoking a joint. I had no job, all I wanted to do was get high. Towards the end before I quit I was having extreme mood swings, really bad panic attacks, audible and visual hallucinations. I truly believe it was because of the strength of the weed I was smoking. I began cutting down and managed to get a new job, which did random drug tests. That gave me the motivation to quit. I bought a home drugs test kit and it took a little over 2 months for it to flush out my system before I eventually got my first shift. 4 years clean this August!

My dad explained it like this -
"You have problems managing your emotions because since you were 13 you've been smoking to cope with your problems. Now that you haven't been smoking, you have to learn how to handle those emotions that you covered up."

The growing body is precious, if anyone is gonna do anything wait till at least you're of age. Wish I had started when I was older.

Weed eventually turns on you, speaking from experience

When you smoke so much every day for so long you lose the feeling of life it’s deeper than causing health effects. Balance is most important.

Smoked weed every day since grade 10 up until I was 29. I'm 1 year without it in September. Was hard the first few weeks but gets easier. Biggest thing I've noticed was that you don't really have dreams at night when your on it but when you quit, the dreams are crazy weird.

If you want to quit, just keep at it. It took my a couple years of off and on but i eventually lost all desire. Stay strong.

I quit pretty much when i turned 18 because it was making me extremely anxious and gave me a feeling of impending doom.

I smoked here and there for about 6 months and immediately started experiencing dissociative episodes and general anxiety/paranoia. It took me a little while to realize that it was weed induced DPDR and my life hasn’t been the same since. At one point I was fully convinced that I’d gone insane with no hope of being okay again. I’m doing okay now and have actually found a way to get over everything, but use this as an example of how smoking can turn sour

I've been smoking for 20 years. Moderation is key and do not be excessive. Maintain a schedule. Do it after you're done with all your work

I got off weed now 60 days. It was hard at first. I smoked 6 times a day and I wasn’t being productive. I was always in a good mood though. Now, my adhd is at its worst and it’s hard to relax and sleep but I’m productive. Pick your poison carefully

I smoked the entire time I was a teenager and managed to quit at 20. I really felt psychotic, emotionally unstable, and flat out bad at making decisions. But the main thing was losing all my sense of spirituality and feeling so separated from God, especially in the later years. I knew I had to quit if I wanted to have a relationship with Him. And I believe He was gracious enough to heal my psychosis and allow me to function/feel joy without marijuana.

I used to take rso everyday after work… high for 8-9hrs at a time, plus vaping as well… couple of months in I thought I was losing my mind and becoming schizophrenic, unusually paranoid… all with the excuse “it helps me sleep”… I had a couple psychotic episodes… glory to God he set me free from the bondage of addiction

Honestly as someone trying to quit I’m glad I saw this and read everyone’s comments. There’s just too many pro weed articles. I needed to see this.

True, I have a close relative who turned schizophrenic. We need more people raising awareness on this issue.

About a year ago I had a bad panic attack from smoking weed. Felt like I was gonna die, my heart was racing, I could hardly breathe, my head was spinning, my eyes were tingling. Ever since, every time I’ve smoked has been an unenjoyable experience and I can no longer smoke anymore. It used to make me feel absolutely amazing, but now it sets off the panic button in my brain.
