Psychedelic drugs, such as LSD, psilocybin, and MDMA, have long been associated with counterculture and recreational drug use. However, there is growing scientific evidence indicating that these substances could be highly beneficial for treating mental health conditions, addiction, and potentially even preventing physical ailments.
I have been closely following the advancements in this research field, as I believe it could be one of the most significant medical breakthroughs for the treatment of mental conditions, which are becoming a real epidemic in our chaotic and fast-paced lives.
Despite this, the topic of psychedelics is highly polarizing, with some people considering it a miracle cure, while others view it merely as a drug.
To dispel the myths and misconceptions surrounding this topic, I'm joined this week by Marvin Däumichen, co-founder, and Director of Programs of the MIND Foundation, a non-profit organization that advocates for psychedelic research and therapy in Europe.
During our discussion, Marvin and I explore:
🔷 What are psychedelics drugs and how do they affect the brain
🔷 Benefits and risks associated with their consumption
🔷 How psychedelics increase neuroplasticity and the differences with SSRI medications
🔷 Effectiveness in treating or lessening symptoms associated with depression, addiction, and PTSD and even preventive benefits on inflammatory brain conditions such as Alzheimer
🔷 The latest state of the research and clinical trial on psychedelics in Europe
🔷 How to approach psychedelics and possible alternatives
Important Note: This conversation does not constitute in any shape or form medical advice, and what is discussed here is the current state of research as of April 2023
