Thank you for saying "era" and not "phase". I've been there before. If I had stayed at my old school, I might still be with him, and I probably wouldn't have gotten as low as I got with my mental health. But whenever I think that, I remind myself that a) he probably would have broken my heart even more, and b) I met my friends that I have today, who actually fully support my identity.
