Life saver. My 91 Honda Accord been running rough and hesitating from a complete stop. Idle been surging up and down. Unplugged the TPS sensor and it runs smooth as butter

If it wasn't for this video, my 86 nissan hardbody would still have major problems. I had to tell a professional mechanic who could not diagnose it " well, a video i seen on YouTube said it could be the TPS" and what do you know, that was the problem.
Thank you Scotty,
Your a life changer bro.

07/07/2020 While your video is just about 2 years old, it was spot. started my car, let it idle, disconnected the throttle body wire and the engine revved up.
Was a quick fix for my 1994 Subaru legacy...Thank You...you are the best

A light just came on next to the 'check engine light' that says 'Sell the car'. What do I do?

Scotty saves the day! I wish I had found this channel sooner.. Been fighting with this stupid old 1990 Buick Century 3.3L for a long time.. changed everything BUT the TPS, and wouldn't you know it? LOL Seriously, I spent better part of 3 days replacing the fuel tank and pump / sending unit assembly, too.. and the crank position sensor and the ignition control unit, also cruise control, PCV valve and grommets, MAF sensor assembly, coils, injectors (high resistance Bosch), plug wires and plugs and vacuum lines. Little by little, the improvements were felt, but couldn't get rid of that rough idle. Well, heck.. Engine was barely broke in when I got it from an estate sale, but had to rebuild the transmission, six months later (ouch!). Now, I have almost a new car! Too bad it looks like crap! The dogs love it, so who am I trying to impress? LOL

Caution to anyone who thinks this is an easy fix. Watch some of the other videos about TPS adjustment. It can get very involved. Good luck!

The absolute throttle position for my throttle sensor would change from 18% up to 20% at idle, that’s how I knew it was bad. Sometimes I would come to a stop and it would be at 19.6% and other times it could be at 20.2%. My new sensor is always at 18.4% when the throttle is closed. My acceleration is a lot smoother now and my mpg has increased slightly too.

Your a genius. All this time I was chasing a pink unicorn and come to find out with your trick it definitely was my TPS sensor.

Scotty you are the man! I replaced my TPS with one I got off eBay for $10 trying to save money. My Jeep started turning off while I was driving and I figured it was the TPS. I changed it out and I did a transmission fluid change and I couldn't believe it when my Jeep started to shift wrong. At first i thought I had to change my transmission which made me lose hope in my Jeep but after watching this i am going to buy another TPS and I hope it works this time. My transmission was fine right before I changed out the TPS and now I know what it is. Thanks man!

This helped a lot, TPS has been acting up, going into limp mode and then normal with each turn of the key, poor idle, sometimes stalling, but idles great after removing the connection.

Can you disconnect it like you did to see if the car runs better only when just idling or can you drive it to see if it's shifting better too?
