The BG-Mosquitaire CO2 mosquito trap captures all mosquito species. The trap is suitable for outdoor use and works with carbon dioxide (CO2), the most important attractant for the majority of blood-sucking insects.
It makes sense to check from time to time if the correct amount of CO2 is released from the CO2 source, especially it makes sense when the capture rates are lower than expected:

For this purpose, remove the CO2 tube from the mosquito trap and hold it in a glass of water while the CO2-bottle is opened.

The amount of bubbles released shows you if the CO2 release rate is sufficient or not.

If your CO2 release rate is not sufficient, learn how to increase it by watching the video

If you are bothered by mosquitoes mainly in the evening, or if you live near a flood plain, the reason for the nuisance is most probably not the tiger mosquito, but house or floodwater mosquitoes. In this case, it is necessary to add CO2 and the BG-Booster CO2 to the Biogents suction trap to increase capture rates for these mosquito species.

CO2 is an important attractant for all mosquitoes species. CO2 and the BG-Sweetscent work together as synergists. Together they can greatly increase the number of captured mosquito species and maximize the capture rate (also for tiger mosquitoes). The BG-Booster helps disperse the optimum dose of CO2 and the release rate can be adjusted to the local and seasonal mosquito situation. The release rate corresponds to the amount of CO2 a small child releases.

In order to supply the trap with the carbon dioxide attractant, a commercially available CO2 gas cylinder with six or more kilograms is required.

We recommend a carbon dioxide flow rate of about 0,5 kg per day for normal and high mosquito nuisance (see markers on the display of the pressure regulator).

The gas bottles are not included in the contents. The bottles can be acquired or rented at drink retailers or bottle depots for a deposit.

All the attractants used, which are released into the air from the trap, are also released into the environment in similar quantities by a resting person. Therefore, the long-term use of the trap is completely harmless to health and the environment. The carbon dioxide used is food-grade and is also used in the production of fizzy drinks and for beer tapping in restaurants. As it is a by-product of the industrial production of other substances, it does not contribute to the greenhouse effect.
