I remember when there where only about 5 cabelas in the entire country and when you went on a roadtrip passed one you made it a stop it was a treat. Now there is one in every state.

Hi Dutch I love places like that, there is a giant Bass Pro headquarters in Springfield Missouri that looks almost exactly like the place you're at now and just a mile from me is a scaled down version but still very big and beautiful Bass Pro just a mile from my house at The Landing in Branson Missouri then just a couple of miles away is Cedar Ridge Lodge that is mind- blowing beautiful.

Hamburg, PA store is the biggest. It was the flagship store for Cabelas. I work right down the road from it, used to go there several times a year. It has changed a lot since Bass Pro bought Cabelas, big change inside from hunting/camping to fishing. They sell and display very few sporting rifles and recently were found to be giving gun purchasing info to the government.

F big box stores it’s time to start shopping at local outdoor stores, bass pro doesn’t care about people like us.

Those big box outdoor stores are for outdoor wannabees. Cabelas is probably the lesser of the evils. Places like Sportsman's Warehouse, Dick's and Public Lands are outrageously overpriced. Plus most of them sell ENO hammocks. Screw that !! I always say these places are for people who's idea of hiking is walking from their car in to a Starbucks to get a $7 latte'. Shop Small. Shop Local. Support Cottage Vendors.
