Living in Portugal for more than 20 years now. For as much as I can gather, the Portuguese are NOT interested in getting their Empire back. The whole decolonization process - which only finalized in the second half of the 20th century - was rather traumatic for the Portuguese. I have a sense that even if their former colonies OFFERED their own tethering back to Portugal, the Portuguese would refuse it.

As a portuguese I gotta say you got all wrong! WE DON'T HAVE ANY MILITARY POWER TO FIGHT NO ONE!!!
We tried to maintain our colonies when we were under control of Salazar, and we were FAILING HARD.
