The interlinked hydraulic suspension in the Y62 was invented by my father here in Western Australia, he also invented the KDSS suspension in the LC200. The system in the Patrol is superior, it's very good. The system used in the Patrol was also licensed to McLaren Automotive and they still use it today. The system in the LC200 was licensed to Citroen for their WRC cars and Mitsubishi for the Dakar cars.

Both awesome. The new LC300 has more functions and options. But Patrol is more comfortable, larger and has beautiful exterior design. So my choice is Nissan Patrol 💪🏻

Finally a true comparison and not one that has been sponsored by Toyota. Patrol is the better car. Period!

Y62 it handles better, much more room, much cheaper, good quality interior, better off-roading. I owned Y62 since 2018 with 0 problems and I go off-roading a lot and my children love it 😊.

We test drove both. Then bought the Patrol without hesitation. More powerful, rides better, more solid, sounds better, and immensely cheaper ($30k saving). The Toyota was tinny, harsh ride, complex infotainment, the bonnet flexing during the drive like it’s made of plastic. It felt like a cross between a Prado and a Camry. Lastly, I get my Patrol in 6 months, not a year or more that is Toyota’s delivery timeframe.

I have owned a Y62 since July 2014, and have a new one arriving in February. Fuel economy has been better that spec, 9 litres per 100 km on the drive from Sydney to Byron bay after a stainless steel exhaust was fitted, better than the V8 200 series Landcruiser my business partner owned. He recently sold it after a raft of problems and disappointing fuel efficiency. The Patrol has had zero problems in 7 years, I loaned it to a wealthy friend and he asked if it was new, the leather interior remains spotless. The car is enormous but remains a joy to drive with amazing acceleration and performance, on a recent trip to Dubai I noted that several with Royal plates were parked at the 5 star Hotel we were dining at, if the richest family in the Emirates drive these vehicles it must mean they are the best available. One disappointing thing is the Australian spec cars lack the updated centre consul present on the Middle Eastern spec vehicles but has all the updated safety semi autonomous driving features. Nissan is a company run by engineers historically ( now the Lebanese crook Goshon has fled Japan once again) the Patrol shows this heritage. I wholeheartedly agree with this review, the Landruisers twin centrally mounted turbo charged highly stressed new engine will be a risk not worth taking given the huge distances and isolation users in Australia regularly confront, try fixing that without a factory authorised service facility if something goes wrong.

Long term Toyota owner making the move to the 62.
Will be interesting to see how these small block diesels (almost all new diesels getting smaller capacity) in general, last when they get some serious kms on the odo especially long towing kms. There’s no replacement for displacement.

i can only dream to have either of them...

my 22 years old Y61 is still going strong so I am sticking to it :)

Tremendous review, as a Y62 owner myself who lives on the road touring Australia ‘permanently’, I agree with the comments of how the Y62 performs. It’s a hard vehicle to ‘beat’, especially when towing 3T behind on and off road. 👌🤠

Reviewer: “Like most Toyota’s, there’s plenty of tech inside here”
Audience: “ 😆 What is he smoking 😆”?

Finally an honest no frills comparison. Thank you!
As you’ve pointed out when it comes to just doing the job they are intended to do the Patrol still can do it regardless of it age. I drove the y62 once and now it has replaced my 200. What a bargain they are in comparison!

Excellent honest review, your comments on on the Landcruiser are spot on and not just pumping up the ‘ new’ cruiser. If I had an early 200 series, worth considering. But if I had a late model 200 it is just incremental for the money

Here in Dubai the 2022 V8 Left Hand Drive Nissan Patrols have 8 model versions including a new V6 but with a totally new interior and an up to date dashboard which was introduced in early 2021 but I have noticed in New Zealand have left the Right Hand Drive versions with the old 2017 interiors

Have been waiting for this Face to face comparison

If you are buying a 300 for fuel efficiency just the price difference adds up to 450, 000km of driving the 300 to break even with the patrol. Then add the interest onto that $37, 000 and you wouldn't even see it.
Would be interesting to see how the economy stands up to a caravan tow test I know the patrol was better than 200.

Great comparison. Thank you.
Was wondering what inherent problems the y62 has?
It’s a shame that the Australian market didn’t get the updated interior like overseas in the Nissan

When towing a large load the naturally aspirated engine in the patrol proved to be much more efficient in terms of fuel consumption when compared to the 4.5litre diesel v8 in the previous cruiser. The fact that it’s n/a actually helps it in this case given that under high load n/a engines can run considerably leaner afrs. Would be very curious what the fuel consumption of the cruisers new v6 would be under load towing 3 tonnes.

I drove a 300 and 80kms and above the bonnet vibrates, i asked the salesman if he had noticed anything and he straight away commented that it happens over 80kms so it was not just me been picky. it drove ok but did not wow me, i went and brought a 200 series and could not be happier.

Amazing how now the 200 Series 4.5litre diesel is now being referred to as not terribly fuel efficient. Up until the release of the 300 all the Toyota fan boys would rave about it. Driving both the 200 and a Y62 on a regular basis I know that the 200 was a guzzling pos. The Y62 at least goes when you plant the foot
