He was my mom's favourite and she'd tell me about him, show me some of his movies but she never told me the exact date of his death. Until one day I found out he died on my birthday (31st of October) and since I was only 9 or maybe 11 at the time, I felt so horrible and so heartbroken. For my next couple of birthdays I would cut a piece of cake for him too until I stopped having parties and cake because of financial issues and bullying. I may never have met him, neither did my mom, but his works and his ideals about animals, the environment, his fellow people and the horrors he went through as a child truly touched our hearts and minds. He was too good for this world💜
