Fantastic historical information! Thank you so much for reminding us what can be accomplished when we eat the way we were designed to eat.

I brought potatoes, white, orange and purple to a diner with friends, along with almond yogurt, chives and small vegan bacon bits. Everybody else added melted cheese on their potatoes. They all had trouble digesting while I was perfectly fine and light.

I boil and then bake my potatoes with herbs and a dash of salt. So satisfying and delicious!

Love you John and everything you stand for. The majority of the world can afford your way of eating

I noticed when I started eating wholesome potatoes and sweet potatoes again, without any additives, just natural potatoes, maybe with a little cheese grated on top, not much, or a drizzle of olive butter. My bloating was less, and my digestion felt better. It was like my gut was telling me, I missed potatoes. I also noticed the same when I reintroduced porridge back into my diet again. I’m not so sure about wholemeal bread though, but I have 4 slices of that, earlier in the day.

Thank you, Dr McDougall, you are my King! I grew up 80-90% starch based, and so did my entire family and virtually all my friends, rice, a little greens and the rich one gets a little eggs scrambled into cabbage, salted fish & pork, like 20g-50g a day....that is, if your family is affluent..I am now 57, and still Starch based...

One cow can feed a family for almost a year. You need lots of plants and starch, hoping for a good crop and still have a suboptimal diet. People live on plants only during times of starvation. Then they go back to animal foods in the diet as soon as possible.

I really admire your way of telling the good narratives of changing the diet back to whole food starch based vegan diet - and I always wonders Why the obvious healthy result from “ starvation low fat vegan” in Denmark and the Hindhede results did not continue - so thank you very much for highlighting that knowledge 🎶🍀💚

For all those who obsess on the question of “insufficient protein” intake for vegetarians/vegans/raw vegans/fruitarians, et al.: The consumption of concentrated sources of protein in humans is only important during the early developmental and formative stages of life — prenatal, infancy, childhood, puberty, and until the individual has reached full physical maturity (and also for expectant and nursing mothers). After the age of approximately 120 years, this issue ceases to be of chief concern.

I eat mostly vegetables. _Some_ meat. I eat eggs. But four things changed my life. First. I went off sugar. Second. I stopped eating bread. Third. I started taking cod liver oil. Fourth - and I believe maybe the most important - I started making and drinking Kefir. I've felt like a new person since I started this. Also, I believe the good doctor should be differentiating between ordinary starch and Resistant Starch. Also, I don't believe that it's just our diet - we need to reorganise our genes - which, it has now been proved, we can.

Looking at how frail he looks and sounds at 74, and the decline he’s experienced in the past decade should cause one to wonder if he’s the embodiment of the failure attained in living out his life’s work and core message. That might convince one if not to consider the merits of a carnivore diet, at least one with adequate amount of meat

so how high will my glucose go on this diet?

The lack of data is astonishing.
First, what used to be the quality of all animal products before that?
Fasting is a great way to improve our body?
These are only 2 questions I have...
