*GREAT VIDEO DUSTIN* | Ultimately you cant count on one mutual fund to CONSISTENTLY beat the Stock Market. Studies have shown that the market wins year over year. Best to stick with an Indexed ETF rather than bet that one or two mutual funds will always beat the market. GREAT VIDEO DUSTIN! 😎👍🏻

Invested in some mutual funds, they do best the market and sometimes don't. But knowing a consistent mutual fund is a good investment opportunity.

Good, but this is a "hindsight" analysis. The real interest in beating the market is "Can I select a fund today that will beat the market for the next X years."

So what I think would be very interesting is to do the analysis for the period say 2000-2010. Find the winners. Then look at those funds from 2010-present. Do they still do well.

With a large number of funds, over any period, some will win, perhaps by chance, perhaps by skill.... (And then the winning manager leaves the fund!)

Historical returns are not enough to predict future returns anyways. Look into factor investing. The basic idea is to use multiple index funds to get exposure to different kinds of risk because there is a premium for risk, which explains differences in returns. If we are to use historical returns we have to explain the source of those returns.

This is really easy to do in hindsight, but the question really is, could you have picked one of these stocks 20 years ago?

Small cap growth looks great, but gawd it’s hard staying in it at this moment in time.

20 years seems a bit short to me, I like looking at the ones that beat the market over 60, 70, 80+ years

Dustin, you are awesome at keeping it simple. Nice job as always! One question for you though, Blue Devils or Bluecoats?

Maybe the way you presented the information seemed odd. Some of those funds were Index Funds and not human managed Mutual Funds. Also no one said beating the market was impossible. They mentioned it was drastically lower probability. Large Cap market has 22% chance with a great hedge fund manager. The Bond market 60% chance.

Good video. Why do all the clocks ⏰ on the wall behind you show different times?

This is like saying you picking lottery numbers you used 20 years ago and expecting that they will win again.  And out of 4937 funds, only 74 outperformed?  That's less than 2% chance of picking the right fund.  Also, you don't know if these same 74 funds will outperform the market again in 20 years.  Bad video, bad advice.
