Well made movie about the civilians helping helping with the evacuation of British Expeditionary Force from Dunkirk France in 1940 (WW2). Also the Free French soldiers were also evacuated to England in 1940 after the Nazi blitzkrieg across Europe in 1939-1940.

Cillian might be one of the most underrated actors of our time. Oppenheimer is finally giving him the spotlight but every time I've seen him in anything I felt like he wasn't veing given credit for his skill. The guy always plays his role to perfection. They always have some connection to his personality but he can play very different versions of his personality and i feel like thats his technique to get new characters while maintaining a feeling of authenticity. And Nolan was one of the only people to appreciate him. Glad he did.

When they lied and told him the kid was okay because they could see he’s been through enough trauma it was such a powerful scene that would usually go right over your head.
