SC Lists Arvind Kejriwal’s Defamation Case Over Retweeting Dhruv Rathee’s Video For August 12

The Supreme Court today extended the stay on defamation case against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for retweeting a video by Youtuber Dhruv Rathee. CM Arvind Kejriwal had challenged Delhi High Court order. The Delhi HC order had upheld the summons issued to Kejriwal in a criminal defamation case for retweeting an allegedly defamatory video which was circulated by Youtuber Dhruv Rathee in May 2018. A bench of Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Dipankar Datta heard Kejriwal’s plea. Kejriwal, in the matter has admitted that he ‘committed a mistake’ by retweeting the alleged defamatory video circulated by Dhruv Rathee related to BJP’s IT Cell.
