I served in the 60's and seventies and we had the best trained crews, the best ships with the most advanced weapons. We trained non stop and every man knew what to do in a battle situation. Today's navy is much smaller but Britain has the world leading BAE systems which is the envy of the world. All top secret but undoubtably at the top of capability. I marvelled at the comment of a warfare officer who stated that his ship was tracking dozens of potentially hostile aircraft and that they could be engaged as soon as they became a threat. That is the art of Naval warfare. I would hate to be a pilot tasked with attacking a British task force.

The Americans appear to have abandoned very expensive and trouble-prone, multi-role warships! Do the Royal Navy have a better plan? The RFA has enormous trouble recruiting new personnel but, in addition, cannot seem to retain them! Perhaps if the RN had not built those two aircraft carriers, then they would have enough sailors to be able to crew all their other vessels both existing and planned. Is the UK really committed to growing the size of its fleet or not I wonder? Is it all smoke and mirrors? Other navies (both friendly AND UNfriendly), will not be easily fooled! Pay the sailors a decent wage/salary or they will vote with their feet.

I don't like the new carriers but I think the British can build some good ships. Hope they are better and do the job.

The UK doesn't have the money to spend on ships, they would rather build solar panels on farm land!

They are truly cool looking and no doubt, capable.
They sure present a large profile though and When I think of how Russia's crappy troop ships fared against Ukraine, I hate to think of the potential loss of life!

Ajax is not an APC and it's actually an armoured reconnaissance and the replacement for Scimitar. The APC variant is called Ares, the command and control variant is called Athena, engineer reconnaissance is called Argus and armoured recovery vehicles will be called Atlas. This family of vehicles will replace Scimitar, Scorpion and Saracen when they are completely phased out.
Boxer will also get multiple variants similar to Ajax but will also include Artillery, bridge laying and possibly a brimstone carrying version.

What’s the point, every side of the uk armed forces has been depleted year on year, what have we got, less than a 100 front line fighter attack aircraft, 70, 000 army forces and 20 ships for the Royal Navy

They should put more funding into the recruitment and retention systems. No use having a gigantic fleet if you can't put sailors on board when needed.

Knowing the Royal Navy and its hot mess of projects, I bet those are gonna be delayed by 10 years, cost triple and they’ll only complete half

I'm sure USA has such fast inshore patrol vessel armed to the teeth.

It'll never happen - UK voters are not interested in their military and given a choice, would prefer more welfare over defence spending

they are 2nd largest only in UK. they are about half the size of their US and China's counterpart.

100 marines commando.
Build another 4 of the new ships also multi capabilities ships also
