Elastic/Inelastic collision Demonstration

2 similar balls roll down a ramp and collide with a block of wood. How does the elasticity of each ball affect the outcome of the collision?

change in momentum is the same for both, hence the same magnitude of impulse, but time taken for each ball to come to a rest in different, hence average force provided by the ball that takes the shortest time to come to a rest is greater. Hence the block falls.

The first ball has less change in momentum and bigger time of collision with the second ball has bigger change in momentum and less time of collision....so by second ball because of the greater ΔP and the smallest Δt....push the wood with bigger FORCE

please tell if I am right or not,
from my understanding of momentum and conservation of energy, I think that the elastic ball initially had some kinetic energy, and when it hit the block, it deformed and so, its kinetic energy got converted to potential energy. then on its return journey, that potential energy again got converted back to kinetic energy, and the ball came back.so the net energy transferred to the block was kinetic + potential energy, which was enough to generate a torque capable of turning the block completely.
in the case of the inelastic ball, the ball had some kinetic energy but didn't deform, and so didn't gather any potential energy. so only the kinetic energy was transferred to the block, which did turn the block was not enough to turn it completely.

Because the energy is transferred in elastic collision but not in inelastic collision
