Can we all just take a moment to appreciate what a fantastic partner Hansi is? "Martina wants to make more books? Obviously she needs a fantastic, restored new book press." #ThatSupportTho

You did a fabulous job. It is the nicest thing you can do for someone you love as she is passionate about her craft, and so are you. Thank you for sharing.

For a moment i wondered if you were going to remove the rust with diet coke but then you went hardcore with the electric bath thing. I'm impressed. 😂 The end result is gorgeous! You put a lot of love and elbow grease into this! 💖

This is pretty cool. Taking a lump of metal and making it functional again.
Awesome job.

My favourites videos I think. Seeing things renovated and used again.

I know its 2 years after, but important info none the less. Don't heat iron up if its stuck. The metal swells when heated, and shrinks when cools. and by heating it up and due the swelling, so is it possible that the nut might not fit any more. it could shink to a degree where it wont be possible to use it agein, or remain sligtly to large.

I used shrinking + swelling when making tongs in blacksmithing.

Workbench edge alignment countersunk bolts and wingnut fastening press and frame fastening. Easing saw enabled sewing.

A quality bookpress from past ages needs that much attention

Awesome job. Have you thought about using electrolysis or electroplating to give metal parts a copper or nickle finish? I'm sure Martina could do some amazing things with this process. You kids rock!

If Martina likes the restoration of this book press and uses it, nothing else matters. especially YouTube viewers opinions which includes mine.
