The Great Pyrenees is a large, fluffy breed of dog that originated in the Pyrenees Mountains between France and Spain. They are known for their thick, white coats that provide excellent insulation in cold weather. They were originally bred to guard flocks of sheep and are still used for this purpose today. They are also popular as companion animals and make great family pets. They are known for being loyal, protective, and intelligent, but also independent and strong-willed.

I nannied for a couple kids when I was in high school and they had a Great Pyrenees, and that dog was so gentle and sweet, but every time he came in the house he would kick me off of the couch. He would just get up, worm his way behind me, and take up the whole couch lol.

I have two Great Pyrenees. They like to roam my property at night like prison guards and don't allow anything else with 4 legs and fur to venture near. They bark at people but are usually not aggressive towards people.

i was once walking down the sidewalk and a dude was walking one of these dogs- he saw me, and just…dropped the leash and let the dog run at me. Dog ended up snapping at my hands but i was able to shove it off and it ran back to the guy. He just casually passed and said “he likes to say hi!”. it was terrifying. Then like a month later I met one of the same breed of dog and it was the sweetest, floofiest cuddle bug ever 😂🥰

I adopted a Great Pyrenees mix and he was the sweetest dog I've ever had. I grew up with labradors, but he was even sweeter than them. They are defiantly a protector breed, he wouldn't let anyone he didn't know near me or his pack, my sweet boy passed away protecting his pack.

Their courage is legendary for a reason. One day a coyote pack attacked sheeps with 13 Coyotes intact and all were found dead, with a VERY wounded Pyrenese. The dog did not let them touch a SINGLE sheep, it defended them like its own blood

Later they found more Coyote bodies, but still not a single dead Sheep. So yes, despite all the humour this dog IS a legendary breed, who does its job with his heart and soul.

My female Labrador retriever was bred to a Great Pyrenees. The 8 puppies turned out to be great dogs. All puppies became great protectors of their owners. I have never seen people so satisfied with their puppy. Say goodbye to coyotes when you have a Great Pyrenees.
