No, domestic violence is not a problem in only Muslim households, it's a problem everywhere.

"The best of you are the people who are best to their wives ", that's a quite of the Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him). Also, look at how much respect Muslims have to give to their mom's.

Even If they are getting abused, they can always just leave or get a divorce, especially if they're leaving in a country like the U.S.
