The 47th Annual GRAMMY Awards featured a Queen as host, but in the end it was a late great Genius who dominated the proceedings as Ray Charles’ posthumous duets album, Genius Loves Company, won a grand total of eight awards.

This was a big start to perhaps Music’s Biggest Night ever — a wide-ranging night that included an all-star version of “Across The Universe” to raise funds for victims of the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami with Stevie Wonder, Bono, Billie Joe Armstrong, Alicia Keys, Steven Tyler, Norah Jones, Tim McGraw, Brian Wilson and Alison Krauss backed by Velvet Revolver.

Might not be the absolute greatest version of this timelessly beautiful song but, wow - there sure are some highlights! Great solid feel by the band, nice work on making it a 'march with intent' at the end, channelling a little of the Hey Jude vibe in the Coda. Loved Steve Tyler working the heights while improvising but after a bit of a slip up in his first verse entry, Stevie recovered well to add a blistering harmonica solo - my moment is the lovely acknowledgement of his greatness from first Bono, and then Brian Wilson. They KNOW!
Not too many artists in the world can evoke that spontaneous applause as Wonder treated them all to that heartfelt burst of Isn't She Lovely? Second utter gem to be found here.

This blew me out of the water. When Steven Tyler used that voice of his—so unique and undeniably STEVEN TYLER, I was just wow 🤩 This was a beautiful rendition of one of my favorite Beatle’s songs. Bono, Scott Weiland, Alicia Keys, Stevie…everyone was just awesome.

The thing that always stood out to me about this performance is that everyone is so off-key. Except for Billie Joe Armstrong. He's right on.
