9:02 - Correction: No Russian soldiers have died in Russia's invasion of Ukraine, they have merely been indefinitely reassigned to an "Extended Special Spiritual Operation"...

I am a little concerned... that anybody who is powerful enough and connected enough to remove Putin, would be many times worse. :(

The Russian economy isn't able to support the war long-term. International sanctions have already made it almost impossible to get things like bearings and microchips, both vital to heavy industry and arms production. A lot of what Russia needs to continue producing arms is not available at all, or only in smaller quantities from other sources like China. Time is Ukraine's ally, and Russia's mortal enemy.

I imagine Putin will probably find a successor via the popular casting show Следующий самодержец России

Replacing Putin alone will do nothing. The entire system is so completely and utterly rotten, that you would need to uproot the whole thing and start from scratch to have even a sliver of hope of any real change.

What about a video on EU decision to buy gas together? That’s pretty new and awesome. Maybe a video on how much EU changed during this crisis

The Rosgvardiya are not an international parallel army, it’s a gendarmes. Meaning, a quasi-police and army, similar to the French Gendarmerie.

Historically a coup is impossible...

Until it is inevitable.

A strongman keeps everyone cowed, but as soon as the others with power fear his continued rule more than they fear him.

If Russia is to change for the better, not only Putin must be replaced, but the entire system and the people associated with it
No more former KGB/FSB agents in power

One of the things to bear in mind when translating Russian language into English language is that unlike English it has no definite articles (i.e. the, a, an).
Let's look at an example of how that can lead to different interpretations. Consider this sentence -
"Цель миссии — захватить Киев."
It could be translated as "The purpose of the mission is to capture Kyiv." Seems pretty straight forward. That's what we're doing and it's our main goal.
However, it can also be translated as "A goal of the mission is to capture Kyiv." This implies that there are other objectives involved and capturing Kyiv may not be the main one.

Both interpretations are grammatically correct but as you can see have different meanings. When translating from one language to another, especially when cultural differences are involved, context is super important.

Sorry this might not be the right time, but just wanted to say that your videos are so well presented/researched and your info graphics are so well put together. I’m glad YT has a channel like this that can summarise this way. Keep up the hard work guys ❤️

2:59 Potentially he could be charged on Article 353 of the Criminal Code: Planning, Preparing, Unleashing, or Waging on Aggressive War

That is if there will be political will.

One man destroys two countries. Insane way to manage a country.

TLDR, I really like you guys for working through politics and providing basic outlines of something that is otherwise very dry and adding some context. But these videos about (especially this one) about the war are just uninformed speculation. You have strengths, this isn't one of them. This also just isn't news, if you want to do speculation, get an expert to do it.

Honestly the Ukrainian government openly stating that there are those in Russia who would back an FSB coup Was a brilliant move, as it may strain relations between Putin and the FSB, Putin distrusting FSB information would seriously cripple his power

Also consider that Shoigu has disappeared. He is unlikely to compete for power. He is tuvan.

Many things are considered highly unlikely... right up until the point where they're not. When circumstances change significantly, so do people's motivations.

Many of those involved in the plot against Hitler were once fierce loyalists too but when they saw their country, their fortunes and their futures going down by the head, they did what almost all people do in such cases.... they looked after #1.... or at least, attempted to do so.

If I'm wagering on any particular manner for the war to end, I'd be placing my money (pardon the pun) on the oligarchs. As they see their fortunes evaporate with no prospect of ever getting them back, they'll find a way to remove Putin from the picture. May take a while but, as I said; people are until they're not.

Their vast stores of cash and wealth brought them close to Putin and it can do the same for the next leader. They'll look after themselves first.

The far more likely result in Russia is civil war if Putin is removed. No single individual really has the gravitas that Putin does (he deliberately set it up that way).

The military are far too humiliated and incompetent (by design) to work as a unified force, they're more likely to end up as tools of various leaders rather than a force in themselves.

And, if you're callously thinking that civil war in Russia is a good thing, just remember that this is the country with the world's largest stockpile of nukes, and it would essentially mean it was an open market for terrorists, rogue governments and any other horrific actors that want to get their hands on nuclear bombs. Not a good day to be on planet Earth.

Huh so Russia has a aging tyrant without a clear heir apparent? I’m sure most historians are rolling their eyes about the old adage.
