I had a red 1989 Subaru Justy 4x4 back in the early 1990s while I was in high school. I used to take that little car on narrow quad trails in the woods and I never got stuck. Yes, it didn't have much power and running the air conditioning seemed to take at least 20% of it's power away, but I still enjoyed that little car during my high school years. Now I drive a 2016 Toyota Yaris hatchback which has plenty enough power, but no 4x4. Don't really think I need 4x4 anyway as I don't go on any adventures in the woods like I did with the Justy as a teenager.

Unbiased and based on truth video👍
I purchased it in 2009 and still has it.
This car has given me trouble free service for good 14 years.
I am from Pakistan

I used to own one. I kind of miss that car. Tiny as hell and I had like 4 to 5 grown men inside but it brings back good memories. When I think back I realize how much fun I was really having.

Great video; thanks for doing this. I had a Justy once back in the mid to late 1980's -- I don't remember a great deal about it other than the fact that it was a total blast to drive and I loved it. Thanks again.

Had one in USA. Simply LOVED IT. Drove it for 10 years with minimum maintenance. At the end got a recall for the muffler. It was solid stainless steel! Wish SUBARU would bring it back.

I had 2 of these, one had A/C not sure whether it was retrofitted. You should come to Malta, still lots of them about on the road. There are even 2 brand new ones in a closed down Subaru showroom

Almost bought a 1988 justy dl for a light project car/daily driver. Sadly didn’t end up getting it but the fact that it uses the 3 cylinder ef12 is just so cool. New oem parts recently came out so im guessing a bit of the engine refurbishment is easy, some other parts may need fabricated though. The justy should totally gain popularity, it deserves it after almost 30-40 years of dormant existence

Excellent video!
I own six currently, two of them are the earlier boxy models. They all have the 1.2 here in the USA so power with the air conditioner on is plenty adequate (to me anyways).
Keep up the great work!

I nearly had a 1988 Subaru Justy as our first car, but it was just a little bit too rusty so unfortunately had to pass it up. They're cool cars though, and super rare here in the UK I can't even remember when I last seen one on the road!

My first car in 2014 was a justy. Loved it till the crank pulley sheered the key on the crank shaft causing it to sling belts after a few minutes. Started to fix it and could never get parts. So now it sits at my parents.

The ignition distributor oil seal fails early. Given the very small oil pan, its best to replace this seal at the first indication of oil seepage st the distributor

I bought an 88 Subaru justy new, it was a manel shift, 3 cylinder, the only reason I sold it was I needed a bigger car in 92, because of my first kid, I did wreak it the same year I bought it and it was repaired, I also got a rod put in my leg from the wreak, the damage to the car was $4000.00 and something.

Canada, we had it for one more year compared to the USA, I owned two and would buy another in a hart beat, final year was the best, had better axles and bearings.

I bought one (1.2 GLi, 75hp, 4WD, , cast grey) new in 1993. I loved driving it, especially in winter on snow, but: It was the worst car I ever had! Big trouble with the front brakes, after some hard braking the disks started to flex and there were huge (!) vibrations. The discs were resurfaced on the car with a special machine, but after a short time same problems occured. New discs also didn't help very long. Second gear synchronisation failed, central locking system failed, there were paint and rust issues and the fuel consumption was extremely high for such a tiny car with 8, 5-11, 7 liters. Track and camber were also an issue and had to be adjusted several times within the 15 months I owned it.
I traded it in for an Opel Corsa GSi after a year and three months with ~47000km on the odo and a loss of 10000DM, but I was happy when it was gone.
The GSi is still here in 2024... 😀

The 4WD model is quite interesting, not only is it activated by a button (when 4WD is off its FWD) it doesnt have center differential, only at rear
