Exactly. We don’t eat ingredients, we eat meals 🍲

Sometimes, a question in itself can be wrong. This is one of those things.

I’m a non-natural body builder and I get a steady daily protein of 250-300gr with Pea Protein Isolate, Seitan and the meat alternative brands like Tofurky and Morning Star

we don't need as much protein and fat as the lobbyists would like you to think.

Actually beans are a great protein source. I think if you eat a wide variety of plant foods and plenty of calories you really don't have to worry at all about protein anyways.

I get my protein from loads of sources throughout the day…. Tofu, seitan, beans, falafel, pea pasta, handful of nuts, soy sauce, dahl, soy milk, quinoa, chia seeds, pea protein shake, mixed seeds, silken tofu pudding… even sourdough bread contains some protein! These aren’t all super protein dense, but it adds up throughout the day and I end up getting everything I need. Not only that but these foods are eaten as part of a meal, so like he said there are complimentary proteins eaten together and you cover all your amino acids that way (lentils and rice are an amazing example of this concept)

Animal protein is harder for our bodies to process. Plant protein is better for us. We can digest animal flesh, but our bodies are not designed to.

One package of super firm tofu has 72 grams of protein. A can of beans has 25 grams, and combined with rice and a tortilla, thats 35 grams. A protein shake can easily have 50 grams of protein when you add in nuts, seeds, and protein powder. That's about 160 grams right there.

Very good point. I would’ve eaten the rice, but I’m learning…

Beans are frigging awesome. There are so many of them and so many things you can do with them. People have been using them in almost all cultures throughout history.

Relative to caloric density, beans are a better source of protein than meat.

Beans in isolation are a great protein source. I rarely eat tofu and never use protein supplements. Whole plant foods is all you need. 💪🌱

The trouble is people are used to having low protein foods and high protein foods make a meal, like rice and chicken.

I like rice as much as the next guy but I cut it 50/50 with white lentils as they're 24g protein per 100g while rice is like 4g so the total protein per serving of the mix is 15g while being almost the same calories (350cals), have some beans with that and your in the 30g-35g range at 500-600cals.

I'll never get the reasoning behind "meat is better because has more protein". That's like saying oils are better because they contain more fat, or sugar being better because it contains more carbohydrates.
I will never get all this obsession with just one of the three macronutrients.

I dont know how to cook, so i do eat huge quantities of just beans everyday. I use popcorn to keep my appetite up to get it all down.

I fully awares of beans are the prefect source of protein but It's taste not good. That why i prefer meats, simple at that.
