I live in rural AZ and EVERYONE has a pitbull. My nextdoor neighbor has 7. My best friend has 2. I've been attacked by a pitbull twice and have a phobia of them. Rightly so. I will only go jogging with my gun and will not hesitate to shoot any stray dog who's being aggressive. I cannot for the life of me understand why anyone would have one of these dogs.

My cousin was bit by her own pitbull and lost part of her finger and my dad was bit by a pitbull when walking down the street. He had to literally kick the dog off and was able to get away with deep wounds. Yeah I want to stay far away from these dogs.

My neighbor had a female adult pitbull, they acquired the pitbull as an adult from someone. I can’t count how many times the pitbull would charge in our yard at us, they never kept the dog on a leash ever. The dog charged at my seven-year-old, my 17 year old, myself and my husband. I would ask my neighbors nicely put a leash on the dog they wouldn’t, I cussed at them put a leash on the dog they wouldn’t. I called animal control and the police, where I live it’s legal not to have a dog on a leash no one would help me. After about 10 times asking politely and screaming at the neighbors to put the dog on a leash, The last time the dog charged at my husband I got sick of it I ran outside and I pepper sprayed that dog. The dog immediately whined turned around and ran home. My neighbors washed the dogs eyes out, the dog was physically fine but of course they called the police and didn’t understand why I pepper sprayed the dog.. I can’t count how many times I asked them nicely got fed up and cussed at them, and told them the dog was charging at us growling hair standing up and I was sick of it. My son wasn’t allowed to play in his own yard anymore because of the dog.. I knew I was in the right I didn’t even wait for the police I had to meet my sister, I let my husband handle it. I knew nothing was going to happen, I was in the right I was going to protect my family. They got rid of the dog after that. My neighbors absolutely knew that their dog was coming after my seven year old many times, and did not care at all. To this day when I go outside and I see them, I give them the shittiest look I can come up with. I’ve heard them say they were going to kill my cat, people like that should not be able to have kids or even own animals..

Honestly to hell with the apologizers. My ex wife andy dogs were attacked by a German shepherd right outside my house because it's owner let it off it's leash (I live next to a park) which is illegal where I live. I'm lucky my dad was there while I was working and punched the dog in the head to get it to run off. The dogs were only around 20lbs each and fought back but sustained puncture wounds. We tracked down the owners and they swore how gentle and nice the dog is with her family and their kids blah blah blah. I know it's not a pitbull but owners always think their dog would never be so aggressive and it's just irresponsible and delusional to assume your dog is a saint.

I dont get why people with kids get these dogs that are known to attack and kill people. Obviously doesn't matter how long and how good they are they will suddenly attack you. Its not the dogs fault but be smart. Is your love of your dog worth endangering a kid or others? Its sad that she died for kid has no mother now

Regardless of any virtue signaling about dogs, I agree that once a human being has a human child, that their first loyalty is to the human child and there is no excuse for them to take any sort of chances with the safety of that human child

Condolences to the family for the tragic loss.

I was attacked by two pit bulls at age nine, that were the neighbors three houses down were I lived. The dogs bit my right ankle (thank God it wasn’t my neck or face) and because of that, I have clear canine and other teeth marks all over it.
I am afraid of big dogs, specially pit bulls, because it really, really, really hurts see your life flash by when being attacked.
