Also, by the way in my locality the per unit price for non-commercial electricity is Rs. 6.5/unit.

1-Government just told that supsidy will be given but that's not the case.
2- The cost you mentioned is for ON-GRID which is useless where electricity goes for hours
3- will be beneficial only if your electricity bill is above 4000 Rs, ROI will be in 6 years

Time value of money bhi ek cheej hoti h. Initial cash outflow will be 2, 50, 000 approx. And future benefit will flow in future.

What about battery cost and replacement. And electricity cost in many places is Rs.4 per unit. Not Rs.8 per unit

You can't exclude rainy days + solar panels don't work at full efficiency at all times.
I would say 6-7 years estimation is much more real

To use entirely 600 units per month, you need inverter and battries, adds up cost.
So 5kw will go to approx 4 lakhs. Dues to subsidy in electricity rates 600 units will cost around 3500-3800.
Invest in m.f and pay electicity bill on return rates.

It depends on how much subsidy you get

Otherwise investing that into some fund that gives 12-15% cagr will double your investment in 5 years
