We were at Thanksgiving one day and I had recently came out to my aunt as a transman. He walked straight up to me and my friends and said: "I heard you're having some trouble knowing what your gender is. If you need to know what that is just go to the bathroom and Pull your shirt up and pull your pants down. You'll see." My friend was gripping my hand, and after he left, I straight up cried. I was mortified.

when one of my best friends came out in high school this was exactly how i explained it to my family. "you may not get it, but i need you to respect it." it works really well tbh

I may be frustrated as I keep struggling to use they/them correctly, or even some other times when my brain has clocked what gender it thinks that person is, and it's wrong, but I imagine it's much more frustrating to not be accepted as the gender that you are, so I do what I must.

I have an aunt like that, she buys my makeup because sometimes i have those days where i feel more feminine but she supports me for who i am and even when i have my masculine days of being non-bianary, she has personally told me that anytime i feel like i need to get away from the homophobia, i can always come over and hang out with her and my baby cousin, im so glad she supports and will even support her son if he grows up and feels like hes on the lgbt spectrum, she may not understand it fully but she tries her best and if i ask she will correct anyone who makes me feel bad, i love her sm and she is by far my favorite family member❤

I’m pan but I’m closeted from everyone (except my spouse, a sibling, and a very few friends) because most of the people in my life are avidly against it. One of my friends (or at the time I thought she was a friend) outed me to my aunt at my bachelorette party though. I fully expected her to be mad but instead she assured me that so long as I am happy that she will be happy no matter what gender I’m with. She also agreed to keep it a secret from the rest of my family because she agreed that they wouldn’t take it well.

My sweet 90 year old grandparents are past the point where they can learn to understand queer people, but they are so supportive, they'll listen to whatever you are telling them and try their best to educate themselves even if they are confused. You don't have to "get it" in order to be supportive. Just make an effort. We appreciate it! ❤ yay for allies

I wish I had less people like his uncle in my life.

I go by she/they pronouns and a family member of mine found a pin I had gotten and threw it out, telling me that “you’re a girl! You’re not a ‘they, ’ you’re not a group of people. It’s degrading! You’re so much more than just a they.”
