Ta Mavra Moura: Greek music @MatrixRotterdam

For the third time they are coming to Matrix, and coincidentally all in the same week of October. “Ta Mavra Moura” invite you once again on a musical journey straight from the streets of Athens, Greece.

As a three-piece band, they are masters in weaving classical Greek folk music from the twentieth century with surprising and modern influences. From the nostalgic rebetiko and laiko to the contemporary sounds of Manos Hatzidakis and Nikos Xydakis, their repertoire is rich and varied.

Central to their sound are the enchanting sounds of the bouzouki and guitar, capturing the soul of urban Athens during the rebetiko era. What sets them apart is the addition of the flute; an unexpected choice that blends beautifully with their sound, adding new dimensions to it. Their three voices, solo or in harmony, make every performance an unforgettable experience.
