One important point I miss in this video the fact that "immunity" in the context of herd immunity refers to sterilizing immunity, so the reduction in transmission, not just symptomatic disease. And this goal is truely difficult to reach considering upcoming variants and the latest data on vaccines. The protection of asymptomatic infection most probably wanes rather quickly, and might be even below the herd immunity threshold at all for certain variants.

The down side to vaccination is certainly that people in general are becoming more reckless. Many people I know who were overall fairly adherent to precautionary guidelines threw it all out the moment they became vaccinated. Now, with the mask mandates and many social distancing guidelines lifting, and with many more people choosing to socialize, travel, attend both large and small gatherings in close quarters and more (all often now without mask-wearing), the complacency is bound to cause a problem between the possibility of breakthrough cases and vaccine evasion of new variants. It's a nice thought to think of having herd immunity on a global scale, but honestly that doesn't seem likely or achievable any time soon...
