Great review Kevin! The value for money in the Select trim is insane! Standard AWD, standard blind spot monitoring, nice big touchscreen, leatherette seats, heated front seats, rear air vents, nice alloy rims etc. Such a great deal, especially if you can negotiate a price under MSRP which is very much possible!

Got the 2025 carbon turbo, fun to drive. Mpg avg is 24. Space is tight in back seat. But features are above it's class and it is fun to drive! Also made in Japan and very high quality overall! Reliable too!

I love my 2024 cx-5! I got it in November of last year. I have the preferred version.

I love the body design. Hope they do not change it. No need to change good looking things just for the heck of it

Great vehicle, looked at the 2.5 Turbo Premium. One of the best driving vehicles we drove, checked all the boxes for us including price. The only reason we won’t be buying one is the subscription based remote start. For our cold snowy winters it’s a must have for us. Absolutely REFUSE to go down that road. It’s a slippery slope people.

Mazda needs to go back to the simplified Trim selection they used to have: Sport, Touring & Grand Touring.
Grand Touring sounded cooler too.
Now each vehicle has like 7-8 different trims: S, Select, Preferred, Premium, Premium Plus, Carbon, Turbo Premium, Signature, etc.

We have 2 2024 cx5 Turbo Models based on Kevin's earlier CX5 turbo reviews - after living with my 2024 CX5 Turb for 6 months, replaced the very rough riding, vague steering Toyo V rated tires with H rated Vresteins. No only does the CX5 ride better, the steering is dramatically improved. The CX5 now dances over the road, the steering is more direct, the vague canter slop (from the squishy Toyo w/ hard, hard, hard sidewalls) is gone...BTW: getting 25 mpg over last two tanks with mixed driving. If you know how to drive it, the Turbo milage is not terrible.

Shots of the CX-5 going through heavy snow means AWD plus GOOD snow tires.
My 2019 CX-5 Grand Touring Reserve now wears 245/50/19 MICHELIN Cross Climate 2 All Season tires have the3 mountain peak/snowflake icon on the sidewall meaning suitable for sow. You better believe that logo! I've driven mine through 10" fresh snow and 5" of thick, "cheesey", driven-over snow with excellent traction and steering/directional feel. After a year and 20, 000 miles they were just as good in deep snow as when new.

Does the holdover 24 CX-5 have the cylinder deactivation?

I think the cylinder deactivation might not be present currently in the S, Select, and Preferred trims. I think I recall that parts shortages meant this feature was being withheld from certain trims. If you check the MPG ratings of 2025 models you’ll see the three cheapest trims actually have slightly lower MPG and that might be because cylinder deactivation and auto stop/stop were temporarily removed.

They should provide FWD and reduce price more in this market

I traded my 21 cx5 for a Wrx and have started to regret it already. Might have to look at a carbon edition

Is there a button to push that allows you to turn off the cylinder deactivation like you can on a Subaru ?

What about the carbon edition with red seat interior like 2024 one. Are we having those next year ?

I'm thinking of leasing between 2025 premium plus vs 2024 turbo signature, thinking about costs tho. I feel turbo will add up with gas costs with the poor fuel economy and premium gas rec but also thinking the premium plus will have higher interest rate for 2025? Any guidance on this?

Wrong. U can still get the S and Select models without cylinder deactivation and no I stop. I have the select without either of those malfunction features. Ha. Believe me, The cx5 runs soooo much better without CD. No trans lag, great mileage and just as smooth as can be. You can't even feel the engine running with the shifts as smooth as you can ever ask for. And much quieter than with the CD. i have driven several with CD AND FORGET IT. ITS A DEAL BREAKER. The sales person didnt have a clue about some models not having CD. LATE 2023 around october they stopped the cd and istop. You wont have to worry about direct injection carbon build up either with all jugs running all the time like they should be without CD. IF YOU drive a cd car and pull up the CD INFO screen, you can see that poor engine is constantly shutting off two cylinders with the slightest of gas pedal let off and flat road conditions. Make a u turn, or just flat road for a few seconds and off it goes. And dont believe anyone who tells you cant notice two cylinders shutting off.

Does it have cylinder deactivation? I see conflicting information.

Semitones other manufacturers, can’t cylinder deactivation be simply switched off?

Turbo option seems like a nice way to get out of that cylinder deactivation bs.
