Piano Masterclass with John O’Conor

On 8th June at 2pm, the fourth and final masterclasses of our summer series will be delivered online by pianist John O’Conor.
Our first participant is Frasier Hickland playing Frédéric Chopin's Polonaise-fantaisie in A-flat Major, Op. 61.
After Frasier we will have Aisling Donnelly playing Ravel's Miroirs mvt 2 (Oiseaux tristes).
Finally today we will have Seán Fogarty playing Frederic Rzewski's Winnsboro Cotton Mill Blues, IV from North American Ballades.
Since winning the International Beethoven Piano Competition in Vienna in 1973 John O’Conor has become one of the most well-regarded pianists on the global stage. His recordings of the complete Beethoven Piano Sonatas led CD Review lauding him as ‘the world's premier Beethoven interpreter'. A Steinway Artist, he is Chair of the Piano Division at Shenandoah University in Virginia, Professor of Piano at the Glenn Gould School of the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, Distinguished Visiting Artist at the TU Dublin Conservatoire of Music and Visiting Professor at Showa University in Japan. For his services to music, he has been decorated ‘Officier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres’ by the French Government, awarded the ‘Ehrenkreuz für Wissenschaft und Kunst’ by the Austrian Government, the ‘Order of the Rising Sun’ by the Emperor of Japan, and has received many other awards.
