Just paid $200 for a rx 6800xt.

Bought a 3080 and 3070 for less then $100 for parts and both worked fine.

Used market is hidden gold!

I brought an used RX580 like a month ago with ability to return and warranty.
It was also possibly a mining card because it has a large '38' written on it with a marker.
But I hadnt had any problems with it, and it was consideribly cheaper here, than a new card.

In my country, majority of ex mining GPU are terrifying, sure the price to perfomance is really great. But sometimes there's LITERALLY a corrosion on It 💀☠️.

this is why you buy it from someone that will let you try it first

My last three gpus have been all used and they still perform great like the day i got it. Those cards were a 970, 2060, and 3080. It saved me hundreds of dollars over the years and gave the cards a new life!

Just bought a "renewed" GTX 1650 from Amazon, I doubt anyone would mine with a LP card for a niche market (old office PCs) but it looked like it was recapped, and card was spotless for $50 less than new

My refurbished 5700xt OC from eBay is running like a champ. It was fully cleaned, repasted and new thermal tape applied. Came from a crypto farm. Runs cool and smooth, even in Starfield 😅

bought an rx 5700 for $145 back in january
seller clarified it was used in a mining rig for 2 years but honestly it's been running fine with no issues so far (i did repaste it recently though)

Unless you're getting free electric somehow generally you've gotta do everything you can to save as much power as physically possible to make crypto mining profitable. One of those things is they'll frequently downclock a GPU so that it uses less electricity - which will also likely put less strain on the card. On one hand the card was under full load 24/7 but that "full load" will also be a lot less strain than a high end video game will put it under too.
Another consideration is that the rapid heating and cooling typical of video games is extremely stressful on a chip, where as in crypto mining, because it stays under load it just stays at temp rather than heating and cooling

I always take a bite out of my GPUs b4 selling them, it's the fat taxs.

Bought two 3080s for $500 a piece last year. One from a miner and one from a personal rig, but they put new pads on the morning of the sale. They just put a new layer of pads on the existing ones so the die wasn't making contact with the cooler at all. I learned about repadding and repasting a GPU but I don't know if I'll take the risk on a used one again. The cards hold up fine, but the sellers can't always be trusted.

So long as it hasn't been reflashed, a mining GPU will usually be: kept in an air conditioned environment, used at a constant load (no fluctuations from gaming, turning the computer on and off, sudden spikes), and used by someone who understands maintenence if they set it up themselves.

I remember you were saying you were trying to figure out the algorithm or something… ngl it’s people like you that make me never wanna give up on anything I work on👍 glad to see you’re a lot bigger now!!

Back when the 30 series was brand new, I found an RTX 3070 for $300 at that time. It was amazing, and still works great to this day!
