"Why would you spend $1000 for only a 10% increase?"
Clearly you have never met gacha players.

Saw a 4090 for 400$
Messaged the seller just to troll because I knew it was fake
The guy said he "has the warrenty paper on his computer but his kids put the original one in water" and I was like "adios amigo"

Ive sold stuff like this before had it listed to "justify" the new purchase saying ill upgrade "when its sold" doesnt sell so i just buy it. Then lower the price and give someone a good deal.

in fb marketplace cheap pc parts are 1 of 2 things
1-scam
2-angry parents selling their kids pc

This is the kind of skepticism most people have naturally which makes online sales already hard enough. It’s a shame it happens a lot though

it happens though. Some people with more money than brains give zero shits about resale value.

on Techpowerup's GPU database, the 4080 Super is 14% faster than the 3090 Ti and 32% faster than the 3090. that's pretty significant if you ask me, and definitely more worth the upgrade than the 10% you were talking about.

I heard from someone a long time ago. “If it seems too good to be true, it usually is” and I think about it a lot. Especially as of the last few years

remeber 10-15 years ago when flagship GPU's were 600 at most?

the companies became the scalpers

I got scammed like that as well however they didn't respond and gave me a fake tracking number, it was a 4070 super for $400. PayPal refunded me the money but watch out and don't buy any shipping items

I heard that they take out some of the parts of the card and sell the rest as a full card, I don't know much about pcs so can't really go into details but you understand me lol

Bruh.. some people upgrade weekly because it's the new fangled thing... that's an exaggeration sure but not by much.

I actually bought a 3090 about a year ago for $600. The guy worked away in mining and just had no use for the pc parts he bought for a new gaming rig so i was more than happy to buy it. Currently its going strong but it does struggle on modern games at 1440p. Luckily i put more budget into a cpu because gpus are easier to upgrade.

Sometimes tbh, but most of the times when I sell my graphics card, I just put it out for cheap just to offload it for whoever is lucky enough and willing enough to collect it lol, sold my 3080 for much less and also intend to sell my 4090 in a similar way when the 5000 series comes out

A customer of mine went to buy a RTX 3070. He bought it for $135, he paid me to install it and a 2TB hdd and turns out it was a 3080

landed a used 3090 for $600 on marketplace, guy had a bunch of them that he was using to mine crypto, I’ve had the card for a few months now and it’s been working great

Yes and no. While it's true here, it's also possible that the seller just managed to get the money to upgrade and decided to recoup the cost whenever the 3090 gets sold. I know I did it a couple of times. Pretty weird to see it not getting sold at that price for 28 weeks, though. If anything, *that* is the giant red flag.

Umm... even Best Buy was unloading clearance 4070Ti cards for as low as $450...

4k card under $500.
