Excellent video. Thanks for explaining the alphabet soup of GRIP GISP etc

Thanks for the video, is this voice also computer generated? If so, the ending of each sentence is pronounced quite long in my opinion.

I would love to know more about past interglacials. Can we go back all the way to the beginning of the Quaternary or did all that old ice just ended up flowing to the sea? Can we get our hands on ice older than 2.6 million years? Could we get ice from the late Neogene or is that too far away?

So 135, 000 years ago there was no ice in Greenland??? If there was, what happened to it?

I’m waiting to find out about Oeschger, the O in D-O. 👍✅🤩

Interesting stuff about the cold war military base and other activities; ice core research was a nice spin off. The assumption is made that ice core layers represents a year but is it really? All it represents is storm events, not years.

How do you get these dates of so long ago when the rate o accumulation of ice in Greenland and is about 1 meter per year and the ice is 4-5, 000 meters thick. That means it is 4-5, 000 years old and not hundreds of thousands of years old.

Google maps overlays ice where there is grassland. They cover lakes and streams with cgi ice and snow

Interglacial warming is actually caused by dust on ice sheets lowering their albedo.
EVERY interglacial warming is preceded by 10 ky of dust (from the Gobi).
See paper ‘ModuIation of lce Ages by Dust and AIbedo’.

In nature there is only one thing colder than ice and that is melting ice

The time scale at 8:10 is seriously incorrect. It's actually about double those times.

russia is NOT the former ussr, it' s only one of 15 republics which formed the soviet union. It's like to say that the state of Washington is former USA.

Ice cores are notoriously unreliable. Remember, ice piles up in drifts in some places and is blown away down to the bare rock in others. It also melts, and weather is often very local. To get a big picture you have to survey an enormous area, cross your fingers and apply esoteric statistical methodology. Guess you can find whatever you want after all that. Ocean mud cores - same story.

Isn't it amazing that this video was only made 13 days ago, but the scaremongering said there is no ice left during summer 🤔. Funny that !!

The voice, I don't know if it's computer generated or not, is really irritating. Content is good, but please change the narration.

Ice Ages come every 13, 000 years or so.. unless you're using data from a ice core sample.
That shows the glaciation lasting for 50, 000 years.
Do the math

omg why are these bot voices so annoying? why does it always drag out the last syllable in a sentence?

The ice at the Arctic an Antarctica is around 8/9k years old,
they have to be drilling into permafrost, after 9k yrs. ???
