Never before have I heard a song that can evoke so many contradictory emotions at once, bravery and fear, hope and sadness, pride and embarrassment, triumph and defeat. The only solace that Humanity can gleen from WWII is that Fascism was defeated in Europe and Asia. I hope whoever wrote this song has a wonderful career as a composer.

My grandad was a ww2 veteran fighting against the Japanese . He passed away on the 7th of January 2023 .
With his family around him, after suffering poor health and dementia for the past 4 years he finally died in peace .
Man this evokes so many emotions about remembering him telling me stories of Burma and the Japanese when I was a kid .
Rest in peace grandad, 96 years old .

Honestly, no documentary captures World War 2 better than this one. And the music helps it do that.

The utter sadness..the fear and utter grief...human egotistical madness...the tragic massacre of humanity...all conveyed in this powerful piece as well as the visual drama that unfolds in the intro...the documentary of WWII in Color...it's a masterpiece! As I listen, I close my eyes in tears. This...world war...a story that must never happen again!

This brings me back to when I first started watching this series on the history Channel when I was 16, back in 2010. This got me into history, and even helped me fall asleep at night despite being super interesting 👍

When the series starts this powerful yet sober music plays. There's an elderly Asian woman who is experiencing horrendous grief. That image is gut wrenching.
As a disabled vet I took great pleasure in knowing we were responsible for the deaths of DPRK and Soviet troops (Reagan era) thru indirect participation.
In my older age I now wish countries would stop the games and live in peace and/or respect each other's sovereignty.
I wouldn't mind one more for the road if it meant killing Putin.

At 4 in the morning of June 5th, a short bombardment began the final destruction of France. Assault troops crossed the Somme and the Aisne. At first, the French resistance was fierce, and the Germans struggled to break out of their bridgeheads. But, once again, the Luftwaffe helped to crush the defenses.

Soon, the panzers were pushing south, and the trickle of surrendering French troops, turned into a flood.

By the 9th, the panzers had crossed the river Seine, and the infantry were only a few hours behind. Once across the river, the germans found out into the interior of the country.

On the 14th, the German Army marched into Paris. The [redacted] was raised on the Eiffel Tower.

Hilter had secured the prize which had eluded the Kaiser, in 1914. The parisians could only watch, in stunned horror.
