Activision just took seemingly vindictive legal action against one of the most highly-anticipated community modding projects of the past few years. Let's break down exactly what happened to H2 Multiplayer mod (H2M) and why this matters for ALL Call of Duty fans.

Bro i stopped the video when you started talking about a license to modd these titles. BRO THESE GAMES ARE LITERALLY UNSAFE TO PLAY BRO BECAUSE OF MODDERS AND HACKERS ON THE GAMES DUDE. Like really, dude i used to hold this channel and such high regard and to see you giving Activision the biggest Hawk-Tua of any other content creator on any platform (including Jev, espresso, faze members on twitter, and many many more that have come out and said something about this) its sad bro. The modders made a mod to allow people to experience an old game safely.... the fact that you said " I just got put back in Activisions good graces", then proceed to say someone else is biased is hilarious, and pure hypocrisy. Must be Nice being on the Activison payroll.

What gets my blood boiling on top of all of this is how they refuse to patch the older games that still go for $60 on steam and let hackers go rampant. You need to install clients just to run the games without fear of getting hacked. It’s truly a sad time for COD.

It's all about the sales... But I will say that waiting to stop it until 24 hours before it's release was a HUGE dick move.

Milo risking his relationship with activision for the h2m community is insane he truly is for the people, the CoD's community greatest soldier

I work on a mod called Skywind, which is a Skyrim mod that aims to remake an older Elder Scrolls title called Morrowind in its entirety. I don't believe Bethesda has explicitly said we need to require users to have both Skyrim and Morrowind installed, but we require it in good faith. So far we are in good standings with Bethesda as we have a solid communication line with them - though, there hasn't been an official endorsement yet. Maybe this is what H2M was missing? Requiring users to have MW2 installed?

Surprising that you didn't mention that the ENTIRE battle royale genre (aka fortnite, warzone, etc) all spawned off a mod, too. Day Z was originally an Arma mod, playerunknown created a battle royale mod of Day Z (mod of a mod), which then turned into its own game and resulted in its own insane popularity, followed shortly thereafter by fortnite, which then inspired warzone. Activision's own massive cash cow exists due to the modding scene. Feels like that would've been the perfect example given the context. CSGO and League are good examples too, but not directly tied to ATVI

The thing I find most absurd about all of this is the idea that H2M was ever going to have any impact on BO6. Activision has no reason to believe that, nor does the player-base and community as a whole. Realistically speaking, MW2 is old news and we already got the maps remastered in MW3 2023 not even a full year ago. Anybody who wants old Call of Duty does not really care about new Call of Duty and vise versa. Nobody who loves Warzone and MW3 are gonna drop everything for this remaster. Those who appreciate both will simply play both BO6 and MW2 remastered. I thoroughly and wholeheartedly believe there’s no evidence to suggest that MW2 remastered in the version of a mod for COD4 remastered exclusively on PC would take away from BO6 numbers; that’s simply ridiculous, and Activision taking these measures is equally ridiculous, disappointing, and frankly kind of disgusting.

Realistically speaking, I bet there were even some CoD Devs who probably would have wanted to even play that mod, but the executives made the decision to shut it down.

Putting a sale up for the game and then immediately ceasing and desisting the mod after it ended is just pure fucking evil and greed. It's actually impressive, it's like shit you see in the movies.

Unrelated, but it's insane that you've put out 36 videos/shorts in the last couple weeks. The amount of content you've put out lately is crazy. We see you working hard, Milo! We see your dedication! Keep doing what you're doing!

people gotta understand that Treyarch inviting Milo to their offices to play BO6 Zombies is different from Milo being invited to COD Next.

Activision handles COD Next, and Treyarch handles these in-studio play-sessions. I imagine Treyarch has a very different relationship with Milo than what Activision does.

Still, fuck Activision.

I guess Milo didn't want to be invited to CoD Next anyway. 😜

When Milo said he wasn't going to hold back on deserved criticism, he meant that and is standing on business.

Milo’s lack of bias towards Activision will be why I always choose to watch his zombies content out of all the others
