Great video and run down of the plot, but I think it needs to be mentioned that Natasha wasn’t exactly the “mistress” of Totsky, at least not willingly. Totsky took her in as an orphaned young girl. When she came more of age and grew in beauty he started assaulting her. It was not her choice to be his “mistress”. However, because of the puritanical beliefs of the time, she and society saw it as her own personal failing that it happened to her. As with a lot of victims, she took on guilt and self loathing that ended up driving her mad and explain her erratic and self- harming behaviour.

my favorite novel without question... there is this... property imbued throughout the entire work that just charms me in some way I'm unable to describe... in ways I'd prefer leaving hazy & opaquely dig the channel, btw... subbed....

And so many think because then happened, now isn't. But didn't I mention? The ongoing WOW is happening, right now! We are all co-authors of this dancing exuberance, where even our inabilities are having a roast. We are the authors of ourselves, co-authoring a gigantic Dostoevsky novel starring clowns! This entire thing we're involved with, called the world, is an opportunity to exhibit how exciting alienation can be. Life is a matter of a miracle that is collected over time by moments flabbergasted to be in each others' presence.

I have read a lot of Russian books however, I always end up asking the same question: why are Russian novels so long ? 🤔
It is bad enough to remember Russian names but after 500 pages or so a character might turn up and he was on page 11 of the novel ! 😂😂😂
My favourite has to be "Crime and dragging slowness is another characteristic of these Russian books !
Tried to read War and Peace three times but my patience couldn't ensure it !

Every sick man made unstable has an idiot somewhere doing something to make it seem like it is his own fault he doesn't trust and not because he failed more times than can be counted on fingers and toes. Once you experience a stark reality you realize why it is possible you were caught out of touch. Think about a hamster that is begging for a cage. The cage is only providing room.
