USA average male height vs. South Korea

Younger generations getting taller is also happening in my country. I am a 34 male with 5'7 and my nephew is as tall as me eventhough hes just 13 years old.

That makes a lot of sense, when I lived in Seoul I thought oh im 5'11 so I'll be like the tallest dude but in reality amongst people my age were average male height and it was only the older (40+) people who were considerably shorter

I’m from the Netherlands where the average height for men is like 183 cm. Even boys from different ethnicities usually become really tall here. You can see that with adopted kids pretty well.

I was in Korea in the 70s and again in 2016 and could definitely tell the difference. In the 70s when I went to the market everyone would stop and stare at me as I walked past, by 2016 they didn't even notice because the height differential wasn't that great. I'm 6'6"

In 1980 I was 5 inches taller than most people I met in South Korea. I returned to Korea in 1989; many of the guys were my height and taller.

This is true for all countries. Im from the Dominican Republic and the generation after me are taller. I was there on June and all my little cousins are about 5’8 already. My 15 years old brother is 5’9 already. I was like wtf happened 😅
