In the realm of herbal medicine, oregano emerges as a potent ally in the treatment of various gastrointestinal issues, including small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO). With its rich history in Mediterranean and Italian cuisine, oregano is a herb familiar to many. However, its therapeutic potential extends far beyond the kitchen.

Oregano possesses remarkable antimicrobial properties, making it a versatile option for tackling a range of microbial culprits, from bacteria to fungi. Its efficacy against SIBO, particularly in cases dominated by hydrogen, methane, or hydrogen sulfide, is well-established.

The active constituents of oregano can be broadly categorised into essential oils and non-essential oil polyphenols. Essential oils, such as carvacrol and thymol, are the powerhouse antimicrobial agents in oregano. These oils inhibit bacterial enzyme activity, disrupt bacterial efflux pumps, and even prevent the formation of biofilms—a major challenge in treating bacterial overgrowth.

Thank you! Wish there was an herbalist like you in the tell that your soul was so meant to do this as a profession this lifetime.

I love and appreciate how you always talk about the "what ifs" and go beyond just first-line treatments, and you always mention things to be cautious of!

Video requests - definitely the NRF2; Sulforaphane (a la Christine Houghton GEMM protocol); gastritis (not just gerd but inflammation of the gi tract causing hypersensitivity to all herbs including the ones to help gastritis); food poisoning and gut issues; MMC issues; troubleshooting when all treatments fail; SIFO; hypersensitive patients; co-conditions like gastritis + sibo which is so hard to treat as it's a constant dance between the two; a symptom spotlight where you take one symptom and go into the possible causes (specifically requesting one on chronic burping and air build up in the stomach); gallstones/sludge

Thank you for another informative video. It is interesting how a limit for taking a high dosage is higher than I would imagine, being a, for most part, relatively healthy lay person. It is really nice to learn more about the dosage and duration of the treatments. Thank you!

Ohhh now I know why you wouldn’t see patients in US. Thanks for explaining that but I really really hope you figure out how to resolve that issue and let us international patients benefit from your invaluable knowledge and expertise

As I currently understand it SIBO is an overgrowth of good bacteria in the small intestine. So if Oregano Oil kills off these good bacteria, does it also kill good bacteria in the large intestine? Can a dysbiosis occur from that?

I'm aware you don't work internationally but do you have any recommendations of trustworthy practitioners for the UK/Europe? Very informative videos by the way!

My 12 yo daughter is so sick :( She has EDS, severe POTS, chronic fatigue, allodynia, SIBO (methane went up to 74 at about 90 mins in), and possibly mold and lyme....where on earth do I start? I have her on HCL, digestive enzymes, binders (I wake her in the middle of the night so they don't absorb her nutrients), Beyond Balance Pro Myco herbal blend, another herbal blend for the immune system, magnesium citrate, threonate, glycinate, antioxidants and am using photobiomodulation therapy. She is not getting better she just gets worse every year! She has large lymphnodes and this year has lost 10lbs and is now underweight at 69lbs and under hte lowest curve for her BMI are grain free do lots of fats, homemade fermented yogurt, meats etc etc. I cannot get this ship turned around no matter what I do :(

Thanks so much Todd-the drops in water are what I am familiar with-If I do too many all at once, I don't feel well. Thanks for the info and the Designs for Health capsules as an alternative.
