This war affected my family.

My grandfather owned a bakery and during this war there was runaway inflation and the cost of flour increased a lot but my grandfather did not raise the price of bread. He incurred a lot of debt and we almost had to close our bakery. But people were able to afford bread (pav).

The people still remember him and thank him even today.

My dad joined navy the following year in 1963 fueled by a raging sense of responsibility. He bravely fought in the 1972 war and narrowly escaped when his ship was attacked by a torpedo fired by the Pak submerine, which eventually took down INS Khukhri.
